چکیده

It has become a feasible green building development strategy to prepare recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) by processing construction and demolition (C&D) wastes into coarse (RCA). On the other hand, defects such as low strength easy cracking of RAC seriously limit its application in materials. In this paper, RCA was strengthened pre-coated nano-silica (NS) slurry improve performance. The effect nano-modified (MRCA) on compressive chloride ion penetration after replacing ordinary or natural (NCA) studied. SEM, MIP nano-indentation techniques were used evaluate MRCA concrete. results show that replacement NCA with reduces mechanical property Under same conditions, (MRAC) are better than those RAC. Compared RAC, width interface transition zone (ITZ) indentation modulus MRAC increased 23.1% 89.4%. This is mainly attributed filling NS slurry, which number pores microfractures surface RCA, pozzolanic consumes part calcium hydroxide produce more silicate hydrate gel, improves ITZ addition, use pre-coating modified good economic environmental benefits.

Performance of High-strength Concrete Made with Recycled Ceramic Aggregates

Recent scientific concerns to achieve sustainability in construction have suggested the implementation of using recycled aggregate in concrete because it has the potential to reduce the demand for extraction of natural raw materials and decrease the volume of wastes landfilled. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the suitability of using ceramic tile (CT) and ceramic sanitary (CS) w...

Assessing relationships among properties of demolished concrete, recycled aggregate and recycled aggregate concrete using regression analysis.

Recycled demolished concrete (DC) as recycled aggregate (RA) and recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) is generally suitable for most construction applications. Low-grade applications, including sub-base and roadwork, have been implemented in many countries; however, higher-grade activities are rarely considered. This paper examines relationships among DC characteristics, properties of their RA and...

Reactivity in Recycled Concrete Aggregate

Full scale tests with crushed concrete used in sub-bases in roads show that the material has capacity to reharden, very slowly but also after prolonged periods of time. The rehardening process in crushed concrete aggregate has been analysed with a thermogravimetric method, comparing the change in chemical composition in the aggregate when set with water, compacted and hardened. It has been show...

Comparative performance of concrete pavements with recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) and virgin aggregate subbases

Using recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) as base/subbase for road construction is alternative way to manage construction waste and reduces the need for virgin aggregates. This paper discusses the long-term performance of concrete pavements on RCA granular layer in comparison to concrete pavements on virgin aggregate granular layer. 18 representative RCA pavement sections across Iowa were primary...

Strength and Toughness of Reinforced Concrete with Coated Steel Fibers

The effect of zinc phosphate (ZP) and zinc calcium phosphate (ZCP) coatings on the reinforcing mechanisms of smooth steel fiber in cementitious matrix have been studied. The results of pull out tests illustrated that by coating smooth steel fiber the pull-out load may be increased up to 100%. The effect of zinc phosphate coating on interface bonding was more than zinc-calcium phosphate coating....
